shabby-shrub-about-meA Few Words About Me

Hello! I’m Amy Pike, the owner, operator, and designer of The Shabby Shrub.

My hubby (Josh)  and three amazing children (Josh, Mitchell, and Zoe) are all a very big part of this adventure. My hubby builds and brings many of my (sometimes crazy) ideas to life. My children are always not far behind picking up great finds on the roadside, lifting armoires up long staircases, tagging and stocking shelves, and even dusting away layers of grime from barn finds. This very special crew has allowed me to pursue a dream. You see, I have a prestigious degree and an impressive resume of inside, office-world jobs. The Shabby Shrub defies common sense, let’s me color outside the lines, and just truly allows my true self to shine.  Messy hair, painted finger nails, and out n’ about.

I  have a deep passion for interior design. As a young child, I would spend hours going through the JC Penney catalog circling favorite items, folding pages, and envisioning my future dream home. This dream home is not anything like the pages of those 1980’s catalogs (thank goodness), but instead, it is a curated use of vintage finds, repurposed/reloved items, and creative/unique finds. On any given day, you may find me with paint all over my hands (and maybe even in my hair) from putting life into old furniture or even building my own from scratch. The Shabby Shrub is a true reflection of my soul: a little shabby and dirty from very hard work with a whole bunch of love and admiration for old things with patina. Where did the name originate? My maiden name is Bush (as in shrub, of course ).

Located at 4736 Cramer Drive in Ashville, NY, The Shabby Shrub is just a stones throw from historic Chautauqua Lake. Our shop is a combination of cozy cottage, rustic farmhouse, french country, and shabby nautical finds. We love antiques and industrial pieces that never go out of style. Pairing rustic with refined, twigs with sparkles, or chandeliers with old barn doors is our specialty. You’ll find antique furniture, unique lighting, specialty paints, and creative home decor. Can’t make it to Chautauqua Lake? Sit down with a cup of coffee, take a deep breath, and browse our website for inspiration.  Both online and in-person, you will find items to create special personal spaces. I want to inspire YOU to make your home creatively YOURS. Afterall, OUR home defies common sense, colors outside the lines, and is just truly US.
